VELAR Dynamics

VELAR Dynamics runs social-deductive simulations under two independent methods: ASDS (roleplay) and VABI (a digital meta-game with an economy). They can be run separately or combined into a phygital roleplay simulation with a digital currency.

For team events, HR data events, stress tests of group dynamics, leadership development, and applied behavioural research.

Method I

ASDS — social-deductive roleplay simulation

ASDS — Authentic Social Deductive Simulation. An open social system with deterministic initial conditions and emergent behaviour. A group of 15–70 people takes on fictional identities with asymmetric information, competing goals and economic ties; in real time, a social dynamic unfolds whose course and outcome cannot be set in advance.

Cross-disciplinary equivalents: a complex adaptive system at the edge of chaos (complexity theory), an asymmetric information game (game theory), experiential assessment with emergent diagnostics (organisational behaviour), authorial immersive dramaturgy without a script.

The material of the game is people. The solution does not exist a priori — it emerges from interaction. The format sits outside teambuilding, escape rooms, LARP, murder mystery and assessment centres.

Six construction layers

  1. Information asymmetry — no character holds the full picture; information is distributed vectorially (who knows what about whom, with what certainty, under what activation condition).
  2. Economic ecosystem — a network of obligations, debts and bribes turns social interaction into transaction.
  3. Relational topology — ties between roles (friendship, rivalry, complicity) determine how information and pressure propagate.
  4. Psychological engine — characters with internal contradictions activate the player's real patterns within the role.
  5. Non-linear conflict — overlapping and latent conflicts spread as cascades.
  6. Temporal architecture — phasing with sub-threshold regulators drives the system to a bifurcation point in controlled time.

The design regime is edge of chaos: the band between rigid structure and chaos in which emergent behaviour is richest.

Editions

  • Svatohrad 1932 — First Republic drama, 30–64 characters, modular. Detective core.
  • Blackwood Manor Affairs — full-day noir detective saga, 15 characters.
  • Spies Between Us — Cold War espionage simulation, 15–22 characters, two factions.
  • THE VAULT — immersive psychological simulation in a luxury hotel, 2090. Hybrid axis.
  • Pipeline: Berlin Espionage, OXYGEN (dystopian), Western Border Intrigue, Ørsk, Neon, Halloween Pumpkins.

Five complexity tiers

BASIC (2–3 h) · ADVANCED (3–5 h) · PRO (6–8 h) · VELVET (10–12 h) · ULTIMATE (1–3 days). Each higher tier represents a qualitative jump in the depth of the layers beyond the increase in length.

Method II

VABI — digital meta-game with an economy

VABI is a phygital game platform with a real-time digital economy. Players do not need to enter a role or take on a fictional identity — in a limited window of time they make decisions, react to pressure, work with incomplete information, and bear the consequences inside a modelled situation.

12–72 players, 45–90 minutes. A web application for players, physical artefacts for movement and collection (cards, fragment codes, dossiers), and a God Mode console for the facilitator.

Mechanics

  • Digital credit — the only in-game currency, fully transparent.
  • Heist — an attack on another player; defence is possible, the result is visible to everyone.
  • Alliance — a shared bet with the option of betrayal.
  • Fragment codes — physical cards, collection and combination.
  • Assimilation — automatic redistribution from the wealthy to the poorer.
  • Broadcast — facilitator's intervention into the game: messages, events, escalations.
  • Escrow and voting — conditional payments, collective votes on rules.

Presets

  • THE VAULT — corporate financial dystopia. Large firms, teambuilding with a sharper edge.
  • BMA Silverhollow — sepia noir, auctions and mysteries. Creative agencies.
  • Holiday Summit — Christmas economy. End-of-year company events.
  • Municipal Budget — town hall and public policy. Education, public administration.
  • Startup Wars — VC playground, burn rate, runway. Tech firms and startups.

Facilitator console (God Mode)

One facilitator handles 12–72 players. The console fires alerts and broadcasts, runs assimilation, generates fragment codes, exports a manifest with PINs and URLs, tracks live Gini, total balance and active players. Smart alerts watch thresholds; telemetry tracks uptime and latency for the whole session.

Combination

ASDS × VABI — phygital roleplay simulation with a digital currency

When method I and method II are combined, the result is a phygital roleplay simulation with a digital currency. Players take on roles from a fully developed ASDS scenario (characters, relationships, motives, secrets) and at the same time operate inside the VABI digital economy: they transfer credit, attack, defend, form alliances, vote.

ASDS roleplay supplies depth of narrative, intrinsic motivation, and psychological resonance. VABI supplies real-time transactional pressure, a behavioural trace, and a measurable data output. Editions designed for this mode: THE VAULT, Holiday Summit (extended mode), and bespoke editions on request.

The combination is optional. A client can book pure ASDS roleplay without VABI, or pure VABI without ASDS roles. The phygital mode is the most demanding to facilitate and the densest in terms of data output.

Where it makes sense

  • HR and L&D departments — behavioural data that questionnaires and 360° feedback do not produce. Primarily VABI or ASDS×VABI.
  • Corporate events — a team format with a diagnostic trace. VABI presets matched to the company profile.
  • Leadership and stress tests — observable conduct under simulated load. ASDS×VABI at PRO+ tier.
  • Academic and applied research — anonymised behavioural event log from VABI for behavioural economics and organisational psychology.
  • Education and public administration — Municipal Budget (VABI), OXYGEN (ASDS) for the ethics of decision-making.
  • Creative and cult events — Svatohrad, Blackwood, BMA Silverhollow. Primarily ASDS, optionally extended with VABI.

What the client receives from VABI and ASDS × VABI

The data output comes primarily from VABI — every action a player takes in the application is timestamped and stored (event type, screen, time spent before the action, result). From the event log, derived metrics and player archetypes are computed.

Derived metrics

  • Stress score — number of actions in the last 5 minutes against the player's own baseline.
  • Impulsivity — share of decisions made under 3 seconds.
  • Defensiveness — ratio of heist defend to heist initiate.
  • Reactivity — time to react to an assimilation or broadcast event.

Player archetypes

Impulsive · Under stress · Defensive · Strategist · Reactive · Steady (reference group). Classification is derived from behavioural data.

Visualisations

  • Timeline panel — per-player event lanes over time, macro-stress histogram.
  • Replay engine — the entire game as animated balance bars with key moments (drama score ≥ 6).
  • Social map — graph of transactions between players (who, to whom, how much).
  • Heat map — time spent on each tab.
  • Stress index — chronological tension timeline across the group.

Pure ASDS without VABI yields a qualitative output drawn from facilitator observation and a structured debrief; the data event log appears only in runs that include the VABI component.

Three delivery tiers

  1. Event Package — single run (ASDS, VABI or ASDS×VABI) and a standard post-game PDF report: archetype profiles, Gini trajectory, key moments. HR departments and teambuilding agencies.
  2. Research License — repeated runs with anonymised data export from VABI (CSV/JSON). Academic research, behavioural economics labs, consultancies.
  3. White-Label Platform — bespoke editions, custom branding, API access and integration with HR systems. Large corporations, educational institutions, government programmes.

GDPR-safe anonymisation in God Mode from the first game. Venue by agreement.

Availability

VELAR Dynamics is a standalone project. The format is agreed individually after a short qualifying conversation — number of players, choice of method (ASDS, VABI or ASDS×VABI), edition/preset, venue, data-collection objective.
